Safety management systems are developed with the intent of reducing and controlling loss. Loss of control which leads to incidents, such as injuries to workers, damage to equipment and environment and loss to processes highly affect a company’s credibility. A well run safety program will provide a safer environment for your workers and help to reduce costs and net higher profits through controlling loss.
A safety manual is the beginning point of any safety programs development. To be effective, the following components are considered to be essential and form the basis of the Partnerships health and safety management system:
- Clearly-stated company policies and management commitment
- Identification and analysis of health and safety hazards at the work site
- Control measures to eliminate or reduce the risks to workers and work processes
- Health & Safety Committees & Representatives
- Worker competency and training
- Others at the work site
- Inspection program
- Emergency response planning
- Incident/accident investigation
- System administration
Incident Investigation and the determining of root causes of a loss and/or non-loss event is a very important learning tool. By adequately investigating all incidents including near misses organizations can develop strategies to prevent their reoccurrence.
Your CSC team will field, trained investigation consultants to lead or support your company in the event of an incident requiring advanced investigation techniques
Ongoing safety inspections are a means by which an organization can verify employee and contractor/subcontractor compliance to the Safety Management System. The inspection program also allows for ongoing hazard identification.
CSC provides inspection services of your organizations systems, facilities, processes and the safe acts and behaviours of workers and contractors/subcontractors.
CSC can develop; verify through inspections, track and interface with your contractor and subcontractors to ensure you are aligning yourself with safe operating companies such as yourself.
Verification of WCB clearance, liability insurance and safety compliance of your contractors and subcontractors is crucial to ensuring that your organization is supplying safe operations to your customer.
Safety registries are companies who provide a service to the prime contractor for the purpose of managing their contractor compliance towards safety initiatives. There are several safety registries worldwide.
You may have been asked by your clients to register with a specified registry such as ISNetworld or ComplyWorks. This process of compliance can be very time consuming and cumbersome for many companies. Some registries have developed a review and verification system (RAV) that requires contracting companies to verify documents and processes surrounding their safety management systems. Many prime contractors in Canada are utilizing registry systems to base decisions of utilization of contracting companies and many will not allow contractors and vendors to supply bids unless they are registered and compliant.
CSC provides complete management of registry compliance systems. Our experience allows us to bring our customers into 100% compliance with the RAV systems, monitor for ongoing requirements and ensuring a ‘top grade’ always exists with your customer.
